Today has been an extremely busy day of teaching, showering and driving. I woke up this morning already aching from the day before. I anticipated this feeling last night so took a picture of my beautiful bath filled to the brim with boiling hot water and sprinkled with Epsom salts; the sight of that watery, wallowy heaven has been enough incentive to keep my squealing body bouncy and energised! Hot baths to me are like brand new socks, just the snuggliest feeling ever; the ultimate hug in a tub.
The purpose of today's blog though is not my bath, although if you're asking, my god it was dam fine, and so hot that I had to throw myself out of the bathroom in an overheated, bright red heap on the floor. No, it is instead to share my Reformer PT session with the gorgeous Faye Sanders, creator of food blog Misc.muffins; who incidentally bought me one of these ridiculously delicious but healthy muffins, which tasted sublime... (Look up her Banoffee Chocolate Fudge Muffin recipe if you fancy a play).
What I adore about the Reformer is that you really can make it work for any individual, be it a chilled out stretch session, or, as today was, an absolute beasting... (It was requested I promise). By incorporating the ultimate plyometric moves of star jumps, jumping squats etc. and burpees (100 of these if you're asking), cardio goes sky high burning up those glycogen stores and demanding the body uses your fat stores as fuel. After a standing blitz, moving down to intense Pilates Matwork we target all those pesky areas and get the body achieving its fullest range of movement. The final phase, incorporated Reformer blasts with mat exercises to get the body lean, mean and sculpted in the quickest time, and finished with a power stretch to lengthen and promote recovery.
It is fun, it is fast and it is furious. If this style of workout appeals, do get in touch and be prepared for quick results. Obviously if harbouring injuries or after a different result, workouts are totally tailored to individuals... But by showing it at its most extreme you can see just how fabulous this piece of equipment truly is. Or, alternatively..... You could just run a bath! xxx
