Firstly, a huge thank you to YOU, the gaggle of 18 girls who attended the Sunday event. Secondly, I hope it BURNED, I hope you ached on Monday, I hope you were silently cursing me on Tuesday, and openly doing so on Wednesday!
So what am I doing this all for?
I want to create bespoke bi-monthly fitness events for the fabulous Costwolds. Why should London get all the fun? We want to try the latest trends, the newest workouts, and we want to do it with a group of like minded women, with some gorgeous food to try afterwards. Each event is designed with YOU in mind, each event will feature a brunch, be it through a live cooking demonstration, or through a nutritional discussion etc. There will also be products that complement the workout to try, such as the natural Neal's Organics Yards Remedies, that the lovely Katie Chapman talked us through last time. If you want to find out more about Neal's Yard and their amazingness I have included a note from Katie at the bottom of the newsletter.... And in time we will add more and more elements according to your feedback.
I appreciate the space in Wholefoods is a little cramped, but with access to the kitchen and the shop afterwards I still feel it's a great little space, however I will personally hoover it next time, as it still felt a little 'raw' shall we say! Bearing the space in mind though, numbers will be strictly limited to 15 attendees rather than the 18 we had this time, hopefully creating a little more freedom to fling those arms and legs around.
It was great to show you how to use the Pilates Mad Exer-soft balls to get that beastly shake and burn in the thighs, bums and tums. Well done to the brave ones who bought one of the balls on the day.... Please email me for any exercise tips you would like with them, and USE them! I don't know if you had a chance to listen to our themed music through the pain, but if you did Taylor Swift was holding your hand all the way through, with her feisty, inspiring lyrics.
It was also lovely to introduce you to the fantastic Misc.Muffins who took us through two delicious recipes, whilst providing clever ideas along the way, I have asked her for the recipe for the quiche which will be at the bottom of this little newsletter and don't forget to follow Faye's blog for all her healthy recipes, superfood tips, restaurant reviews and fitness routines, at https://miscmuffins.wordpress.com/.
Boston Tea Party were also extremely generous with their yummy gluten free chocolate brownies and hippy nut bars..... Oh my goodness, seriously how ridiculously moreish are these delights!
Katie gave us a really insightful chat on the beautiful Neal's Organic Yard Products, and having the oil burners on throughout the workout was really uplifting and motivating.
And, then of course, the star of the show, my little niece Miss Poppy Pink, oh and a policeman turned up who happened to be my husband, and my father nearly ruined Faye's dip with his 'inspired' idea to solving the blender dilemma. I guess what I'm trying to say here, is thank you for putting up with my family, and thank you for putting up with me.
I loved it, I love you, and here are the photos to prove it all really did happen, and wasn't just one of the weirdest dreams of your lives!
The next event is going to be Sunday 27th March! I think it will be a Barre Event again but this time with a twist! PLACES are STRICTLY LIMITED so if you want a ticket reserved before they go on sale email me NOW!
Misc.Muffin's pastry-free, guilt-free, oh-so-healthy quiche recipes. Made with polenta and eggs as the base, this recipe is so adaptable, so easy and very versatile. Perfect for lunch, dinner or even a cheeky slice for a quick healthy snack. It is very quick to make, cheap and easy ingredients and so easy to freeze and cook straight from frozen in just 20 minutes. You can have it with any sides you like from salads to freshly steamed veg, a scrummy bean chilli, baked beans or just a massive heap of hummus (keep an eye out for my healthy dip recipes coming soon!). My favourite side is a huge superfood salad with hummus. I will be posting the superfood salad recipe shortly after this one.
6 eggs beaten
4-5 tbsp. of polenta/cornmeal
1 tsp. turmeric
125ml almond milk/any milk
zest of 1 lemon
juice of 1 lemon
bunch of fresh dill chopped
bunch of fresh parley chopped
1 large leek chopped – approx. 1cm thick
100g frozen peas
Packet of hot-smoked salmon flaked into decent chunks (see pictures)
Preheat the oven to 200C fan/220 conventional/gas mark 7.
First crack open and beat the 6 eggs into a large bowl. Whisk in the milk and then add the polenta and mix well so well combined. Add the zest and lemon juice and mix. Roughly chop the herbs and mix thoroughly into the polenta mix.
Chop the leeks and weigh out the FROZEN peas (otherwise they will over cook and go a grey green if fresh). Add these to the mix and combine well.
You will need a standard size quiche dish or a square oven dish. Lay half of the hot smoked salmon flakes on the base. Add the polenta mix carefully and try to have the leeks and peas evenly spread. Place the rest of the salmon flakes on top of the mix.
Place into a preheated oven to bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and firm in the centre (it definitely shouldn’t wobble!).
Depending on the size of your stomach, or what sides you are having, serve a quarter per person or half a quiche also does nicely if you’re hungry! My favourite side is a superfood salad with hummus and/or chutney and a cheeky glass of wine (red wine/cabernet sauvignon is full of antioxidants and actually good for you – in moderation ;)!)
This quiche is so easy to freeze. Just cut it up into the size of slices you wish, place in a freezer bag and freeze for up to a month (haven’t tried over this yet as it goes so quickly but I imagine it would be ok over this). You don’t even need to defrost when you want it. Take it straight out of the freezer and bake at 200C for 15-20 minutes. Perfect after a long day at work and you want an easy supper.
I hope you're feeling well after our positive start to the week with Lottie on Sunday morning, I loved it! Thank you so much for letting me come along with a few Neal's Yard things. It was a bit last minute but hope you've enjoyed trying your samples in your goody bags!
